When Two Hearts Meet After They Have Been Apart
I had flown down to Ft. Benning Georgia with my parents to see my fiancé, (now husband), graduate from Boot Camp. We had separated before he left for boot camp, but through letters and short phone calls we realized we could not be apart and got engaged. We had not seen each other in months, and spent at that point our entire engagement apart. My parents and I made it to Ft. Benning early in the morning and from there we were shuttled to a small room for a briefing, and then later to a large open area where we would finally see our soldiers. They were marched out in groups, more orders and rules were laid down by their command, and then they were finally released to find their families. At this point it seemed that my parents could find my fiancé easy enough, but I could not. He is on the shorter side like I am I and I was lost in a sea of soldiers and families. My dad kept saying “He is over there in the green!” Thanks dad but they were all in green.” When I finally saw him it was like the world stopped. He hugged me and told me he loved me and that he missed me. At that moment nothing else mattered and no one else was there. That moment in my life is forever memorable. A moment that will forever make me smile.
